FUTAGAMI, a brass foundry founded in the city of Takaoka, Toyama Pref., Japan, dates back to 1897. Brass has a historically been used in architecture and crafts - by virtue of its corrosion resistance and elegant luster. The material gradually evolves in colour over many years, a testament to the passing of time, an acquiring of character the longer it is used.
KOBO in Japanese means "radiance." The linear bold pattern was added not just for aesthetic effect but for a functional consideration – drops of water that run down from the glass slide into the ray patterns, ensuring the coaster does not to stick.
